Student activities on campus include academic and non-academic undertakings, designed to foster broad based competencies as well as recreational outcomes. These are crafted to provide the student with a feel of real life experience in the spiritual, social, economic and political world outside Campus. Student activities include but are not limited to club memberships. Student leadership is the thread that ties together the labyrinth of student activities into one meaningful and exciting phenomena of a neatly blended student campus life experience.
STUDENTS ASSOCIATION: KAGEUSA
KAG EAST University Student Association (KAGEUSA) is an association of the entire students’ body. It is the association of the student public that forms the framework for establishment of student leadership also referred to as student politics and student government. The KAG EAST University students’ Council (KAKEUSC) which constitutes the apex student leadership body is elected by KAGEUSA. This KAGEUSC is expected to act as the go between the University Administration and KAGEUSA. the student body . The University administration is represented by the University management Board (UMB) and the Academic Senate (AcSe). KAGEUSC, therefore is a chain that links KAGEUSA with the UMB through participation in the AcSe. The Leadeship of KAGEUSC works directly in tandem with the Dean of Students’ (DOS) office in relation to the management of students’ affairs.
AFFILIATIONS AND MEMBERSHIPS: KUSC AND KUDSA
KAG EAST University Student Association (KAGEUSA) is a member of the Kenya Universities Students Council (KUSC). KAGEUSA is represented in KUSC by the Chair (Students President) and Secretary of KAGEUSA. The Dean of Students (DS) is a member of Kenya Universities Deans of Students Association (KUDSA) and sits both in the UMB and the AcSe.
CLUBS
Clubs are distinctive groups of co-curriculum activities, recognized, and catalogued through the Dean of students’ office. Each student on full time mode of study is expected to be a member of one or more clubs. Each club has a minimum of three official members in the categories of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. The clubs do have their meetings at least once every week in a Semester or Trimester, except on reasonable grounds.
